» Official/Guidebook Profile
Princess Garnet of the Royal House of Alexandria is the heir to the throne, and the daughter of Queen Brahne. From a very young age, Garnet has taken a keen interest in the legendary Eidolons. In her pre-teen years, she learned that the ability to summon several different Eidolons lay dormant within her. When the princess is kidnapped by Zidane and Tantalus, she decides to use the opportunity to travel the world and learn more about her latent powers. To keep a low profile while away from the castle, she adopts the alias 'Dagger.' Her friends use this nickname fondly. Dagger attacks with either rackets or rods, but her true power lies in her use of White Magic.
» My Opinion
From my point of view, Garnet is a very intriguing character; she has a lot of secrets and unspoken thoughts that lie within her. As she was raised as Alexandria's princess, from you already the heiress to the throne, she's very prim and proper. But as the game progresses, her character opens up and wants to learn to be a 'normal person.' She knows her responsibilities and duties, as she is willing to be kidnapped to see the world and see her citizens. Her trusting and loving attitude towards her mother, Brahne, is very clearly seen when she loses her voice after her mother dies, and, later on, chops off her long hair.
Her innocence is cute as she uses many of Zidane's expressions whenever in a tight situation (e.g. "What's that Zidane told me to use? Oh yes... Get off my back!!" - when Zorn and Thorn try to take her for the Eidolon Extraction). Her inability to restrain herself and keep her expressions aloof when she assumed the throne and met the old gang for, presumably, the last time, is remarkable, but it's all because she was brought up a true princess. But inside she always hopes that other party will take the initiative to open conversation and enable her to speak her mind more freely or understand her attitude at the time.
Practical and ever-adjusting, she's an adventurous girl that is willing to take risks in the name of fun and freedom. It also can be seen that's she's quite the arts person, shown with her interest in books and plays rather than her serious studies in the cute flashbacks with little Garnet and Dr. Tot. She's also very straightforward and comes clear when it comes to love as she rebukes Zidane's every attempt to get closer and flirt with her. But soon, she learns not to deny the feelings that are growing within her for Zidane and thus, makes it impossible for Eiko to interfere... ^_^
Even though she was brought up a prim and proper princess, with people bowing, calling her 'Your Majesty Princess Garnet' wherever she went, she wants to be known as herself. "I want you to remember me for me..." - to Zidane before they part at the ending. On a specially released postcard, she is quoted as: "I want to know myself not as a "Princess" but as a human, but..." Thus showing us her down-to-earth personality!
