Rinoa Heartilly -- [Central] -- [Biography] -- [Appearance] -- [Image Gallery] -- [Multimedia]

[Clothing]

Rinoa has two sets of clothing in the entire game (It's amazing how they can stand so much battles and walking without bathing or changing...). One is the usual everyday ensemble she wears, and the other is the pale cream ballroom gown she wears at the SeeD Inauguration Ball and some other parts of the game.

For her usual ensemble (above), she wears a sleeveless, ankle-long duster that is light blue in colour. The duster also has small white lines that run along the whole length of the gown. On her back are two angel wing motifs that are white in colour. The duster is fastened in the front along her bust by a single button that overlaps with a thin piece of the duster cloth.

Inside the duster she wears a black tank that is cut in a 'V' shape for the neck. For the bottom, she wears a pair of black shorts with white zips on the front of each leg of the shorts. The shorts just touch the top of her knees. Over the shorts, she wears a medium-blue denim skirt with a button-up front. The skirt reaches slightly higher than her shorts, which is about half of her thigh.

She wears two armbands that are the same material and design as her duster. They stretch from just below her elbow to her wrist. On her left forearm she has tied a black ribbon, probably in remembrance of her mother's death. Her shoes are black boots with thick laces, I suppose (I couldn't really make out the design). She wears (obviously) black socks that most probably reach up to half her shins, but she folds them down.

The necklace (above) she wears is made out of tiny chain links and the rings she wears are one clear silver ring and Squall's Griever ring (at the start of the game she only has one ring, she gets Squall's ring later on as the game progresses). I can't make out at all if she wears earrings, so we'll have to leave it at that. But I think she doesn't, as in the FMV where she falls from the side of Balamb Garden, one of her ears is exposed and I don't see any ear jewelry on it whatsoever.

For her pale cream ballroom gown (above), it's design is quite chic. It's also unusual as ballroom gowns tend to reach until the ankles like the other ladies' gowns at the SeeD Ball (seen during FMV). It's sort of a halter neck design, with the straps criss-crossing in front and linking around her neck. The gown's length reaches just above Rinoa's knees and has an extra two-inch-long lace layer that's whitish.

If you look closely during the FMVs, you can see that she wears a thin silver bracelet (above left) on her right wrist. And she also has a very subtle shade of bluish-silver eye shadow (above right) applied on her double eyelids. The shoes she wears are high heels that have straps which fasten around her ankle area. They're the same shade as her dress. Her necklace remains the same as stated above.

[Actress]

Rinoa was designed by the talented Tetsuya Nomura, who already had a hand in designing the FF7 characters as well as the chars in The Bouncer, FF10, and other games. Rinoa's actress, from whom she was generated, is the fast-climbing FF Celebrity Mayuko Aoki. Aoki acted as Rinoa for the CG. However, for her moving about in FMVs, Hoshimi Asai acted Rinoa and Selphie's parts. For the other FF8 characters, here are their actors and characters:

  • Squall Leonhart - Toshiharu Amao

  • Irvine Kinneas - Ichiro Katou

  • Laguna Loire - Akihiko Kikuma

  • Zell Dincht - Masakazu Morita

  • Quistis Trepe - Natsuko Motoyama

  • Seifer Almasy - Tomohide Sanada

  • Selphie Tilmitt - Miyuki Shimizu
